Texas Hold’em night at AMVETS
PARIS — AMVETS Post 777 will sponsor a Texas Hold’em poker tournament from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall, located at 22 Church St.
This event is open to the public. The AMVETS Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.
There is plenty of parking.
Historical society needs yard sale items
HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society will hold ts annual yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 19, at its home, 358 Paris Road. Any items residents would like to donate can be picked up by calling 207-966-2177 or 207-966-2023.
Scribner’s Mill open for tours
HARRISON — The Scribner’s Mill & Homestead, Scribner’s Mills Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, when visitors will have the opportunity to view the progress being made as the restoration of the interior sash saw works continues.
Tours include the mill area where dry (slack) barrels are made, the long shed where shingles are manufactured, and the blacksmith shop.
Across the street from the mill, the 1849 Scribner Homestead will be open for guided tours. In the barn are exhibits of early sawmill equipment. Behind the homestead barn is the reconstructed ice house with a display of ice harvesting equipment.

Reeds to hold reunion on Aug. 6
HEBRON — Descendants of Mary Elizabeth Stewart and Charles Franklin Reed will hold their annual reunion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the home of Rich and Jane Hatch, 1021 Buckfield Road.
Bring a dish for the potluck lunch. A grill is available.
A business meeting and games will follow lunch.
SeniorsPlus office hours
FARMINGTON — The SeniorsPlus office will be open for scheduled appointments Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Walk-in hours are from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be held on the second Thursday of every month.
Staff will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families. These services are free and open to the public.

MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library Book Café, the adult reading group, will meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 5:45 to 7 p.m.
