Historical Society plans open house
JAY — Jay Historical Society members met July 20 for a picnic and business meeting.
Plans were made for the upcoming annual open house that will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, which is the third Saturday this year, at the Holmes-Crafts Homestead on Jay Hill.
The theme will be World War I to commemorate the 100th anniversary.
The Society seeks World War I memorabilia, pictures and stories.

Indianhead Division seeks members
ARLINGTON, Virginia — The U.S. Army Second (Indianhead) Division Association is searching for anyone who served in the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division at any time.
This year the association will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the division, which was formed in France during World War I.
The annual reunion will take place Sept. 13 to 17 in Arlington, Virginia.

Oxford Hills AARP summer outting
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will hold its annual summer outing on Monday, Aug. 14.
Lunch will be at Cyndi’s Dockside, and the group will tour the Shaker Village.

Socrates Cafe to convene
BRIDGTON — Socrates Cafe will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the Bridgton Community Center.
The discussion topic will be “The Crisis of Opioids.” Moderators will be Bob Casimiro and Ted Gerber.

Legion hosting dance, dinner
LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Post 68, American Legion, will have a baked chicken dinner and a dance from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 595 Gore Road.
Cost will be $7 for the supper, $5 for the dance dance or $12 both. Children younger than 12 will cost $4.

Sewing, craft group to meet
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Sewing and Craft Group meets from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays except the third Wednesday of each month at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121.
Members are a small group of women who bring their own projects to work on, although occasionally there are group projects.
