CHESTERVILLE — A benefit bake sale will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 3, when the polls open at the Chesterville Town Office, 409 Dutch Gap Road.

The bake sale is sponsored by the North Chesterville Extension Homemakers and will benefit the Chesterville Town Kitchen.

LOVELL — Lovell United Church of Christ will have a summer fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at 1174 Main St.

WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library Silent Auction will launch with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, serving wine and light hors d’oeuvres.

The auction will be set up at the library’s Williams House, showcasing the various donations that have arrived this year, many of which are estate items.

Handcrafted needlework, framed art, china, pottery and attic treasures from all over Wayne will be displayed.

A number of fine old pieces from Wayne Village Pottery will be auctioned. 

A children’s area will feature a dollhouse and the special edition handmade Phoebe and Phillip (phoebe chicks) and storybook to accompany them. Many buy-it-now items will be available, some quirky, some one-of-a-kind, such as a Kawartha 15-foot square stern canoe with working engine.

A pair of Red Sox/Yankee tickets for the 7 p.m. Aug. 19 game at Fenway will be auctioned. Another offering will be a two-night stay in Gettysburg, plus guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield.

Auction hours will be during most hours when library is open. For those planning to attend the Cary Festival & Lobster Roll Lunch on Saturday, Aug. 5, the auction will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for browsing. Bidding concludes at noon Saturday, Aug. 12.

GREENE — Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends’ super summer yard sale and bottle drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday, Aug. 4 to 6, on Route 202, 700 Main St.

Donated items in good condition and bottles may be brought to the yard sale on July 28 and 29. Large items such as refrigerators, stoves and sofas cannot be accepted. Monetary donations are appreciated and can be sent to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.

Proceeds will finance the work done for the feral cat colonies.

LISBON — Lisbon Area Christian Outreach will offer jewelry, furniture and many collectibles at its Huge Parking Lot Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, and Saturday, Aug. 5, at St. Matthew’s Church on Route 196.

“We are getting ready for an increase in food and school items as the fall approaches. We want our families to have a healthy and productive start to the school year,” LACO President Bob Couture said.

According to Pantry Coordinator Carol Day, last year LACO provided food to 6,421 individuals (4,356 adults and 2,065 children). This included 147 new households and 326 registered families who made 2,371 visits.

Founded in 1985, LACO is a nonprofit organization that serves the Lisbon, Durham and Bowdoin communities. The food and clothing pantry is at the rear entrance of the MTM Center on School Street in Lisbon Falls.

WILTON — A book sale to benefit the Wilton Public Library will take place during the Wilton’s Blueberry Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Western Maine Development, 128 Weld St. next to the Town Office.

This large sale offers books for all readers on a variety of subjects. The books are in good condition and well sorted. This sale includes a special collection of books on Alaska and a large and varied collection of music CDs. Pricing is by donation.
