PARIS — The Paris Public Library Novel Idea Book Club, adults reading children’s, juvenile and young adult selections, will meet to discuss “The Breadwinner” by Deborah Ellis at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Goodreads states, “Because the Taliban rulers of Kabul, Afghanistan, impose strict limitations on women’s freedom and behavior, 11-year-old Parvana must disguise herself as a boy so that her family can survive after her father’s arrest.”

To secure a book, readers may call the library at 207-743-6994 as soon as possible and the library will obtain a copy on loan.

A refreshment related to the book will be available.

For those who are unable to attend, there is an option of being a “Silent Participant,” who reads the monthly selection and e-mails their thoughts about the book to the children’sroom@paris.lib.me.us prior to the discussion date and by 6 p.m. Responses from each “Silent Participant” will be shared during the club discussion.
