DIXFIELD — Dixfield’s Outdoor Market will hit the 40-year mark at events planned for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19 and 20.

The Masons will hold a chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, while the band Skosh provides music from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bull Rock the moose, Main Street.  The American Legion will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for Nickel Bingo.

The Dixfield Historical Society will be open Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19 and 20, exhibiting photographs the public has entered in the photo contest. To participate in the contest, contact dtowle@rsu56.org.

The Moose Run 5K will take place 8 a.m. Sunday, with registration at 7 a.m. Runners may also register online at dixfieldoutdoormarket5k.weebly.com/ or stop at the Dixfield Town Office. Cost is $15 in advance, $20 day of the race. Newly designed T-shirts are available.

With one moderate hill, the family-friendly race is ideal for beginner and experienced runners. Walkers are also welcome to participate. The race will be timed and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Market organizers are searching for Moosely Main Street Parade entrants. This year’s theme is “Moosely Main Street.”

Business owners, nonprofit organizations, school teams/clubs or sports clubs are invited to consider decorating a float or truck bed for the parade. Antique cars or trucks, ATVs, tractors, bicycles, strollers and wagons are also invited, as well as horses and ponies. Organizers encourage the military and veterans to become involved.

Line-up will be held at 9 a.m., with the parade kicking off at 10. Parade registrations may be made by contacting 207-418-7756.

Raffle tickets will be on sale at the central location in front of the former Log Cabin Craftworks.

The Dixfield Police Department will have a police car available for children to inspect and there will be stock cars as well. Police officers and race car drivers will be available for questions.

This year the Class of 2019 will offer a blow-up target where kids can throw darts or kick a ball aiming for a target. In addition, a dunk tank will be part of the fun. All proceeds made in the kids’ area will benefit Class of 2019 Project Graduation.

Storytime with Mother Goose will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and there will be free books until they are gone.

There are still available spots for vendors, which may be reserved by calling 207-357-7007. Cost is $25.

Local musician Sammie Angel will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the moose. The concert is free.

The American Legion will host a Country Jamboree featuring Melanie Jordan and other musicians from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 a person.

Throughout the market, those wishing may purchase a golf ball for $5 or five for $20 for the golf ball drop. See market staff to purchase a ball. Tickets are being sold in front of the former Log Cabin Craftworks. The drop across from the moose will conclude the weekend events at 2 p.m. Sunday.
