Dennis Bowden, Jameson Abel, Jayne Pearson and Rachel Chase, left to right, pull roots and weeds Tuesday afternoon to extend the Alan Day Community Garden on Whitman Street in Norway. Bowden, Abel and Chase are Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School students and are among 10 volunteers at the garden in the Youth Leadership Program. Pearson, coordinator for the Youth Leadership Program, said the students work three days a week for eight weeks do tasks such as cooking healthy lunches, helping with summer events and learning gardening.
