A former treasurer was indicted this week for allegedly embezzling nearly $300,000 from the Local S6 of the machinists’ union at Bath Iron Works, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Citing court documents, the newspaper said Ryan Jones, 34, of Biddeford, is accused of taking $281,000 from the union between May 2012 and November 2016 when he was secretary-treasurer of Local S6 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He has been charged with embezzling union funds, a Class C felony, according to the newspaper.
If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Union Vice President Rocky Grenier referred all questions to Local S6 President Mike Keenan. Keenan could not be immediately reached for comment Thursday.
