AUBURN — Doris T. Fournier, 83, of Louise Avenue in Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Schooner Estates.

Doris was born March 23, 1934, to Fred and Lydia (Guy) Carignan in Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1952. She married George C. Fournier in June 1956. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2010.

Doris was an amazing percussionist in high school. She was honored to play in the All New England Marching Band and played timpani (kettle drums) in the junior symphony.

She worked for the American Red Cross in the late 1960s and 1970s, then at the Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce from which she retired. She and George enjoyed camping in their RV and wintering in Florida.

Her greatest love was being mom to her six children. Her children and family were truly her labor of love. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and had a great sense of humor right to the end. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Raymond (Mila), Dan (Debbie), Susan Collins (Doug), Joline Vachon (Ray), and Jim and Robert Fournier; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
