Construction of a covered ice rink with 160 parking spaces was approved for Pettengill Park by the Auburn Planning Board Tuesday night, but several reservations about traffic in that area were expressed. Because of those concerns, the board voted to ask the City Council to consider making some of the roads in that area, specifically Field Avenue, Winter Street and Wilson Street, one-way or to allow park traffic only to enter or to exit onto certain streets. Only the City Council has the power to change streets to one-way. The motion was made by board member Judy Murphy after a Field Avenue resident told the board she was concerned about the high number of vehicles that would be traveling her street and neighboring streets.
