RANGELEY – Emergency responders launched two boats early Sunday to reach a woman who seriously cut her leg on Browns Island in the Cupsuptic Lake.
The call came in just past midnight in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm, Fire & Rescue Chief Tim Pellerin said Monday.
Firefighters and NorthStar EMS ambulance responders used the Fire & Rescue Department’s rescue boat and commandeered a private boat to get to the older woman from Haines Landing, located at the end of Route 4, he said. Two boats were sent for safety reasons, Pellerin said
Cupsuptic Lake is part of upper Mooselookmeguntic Lake.
Crews brought the woman to shore so she could be taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Dispatchers from Franklin County Regional Communications Center in Farmington kept rescue crews informed of the location and what was going on.
“Everybody did a good job,” Pellerin said. “Its good teamwork all the way around.”
