Local balloonist Jim Rodrigue greets Wendell Purvis during a get-together at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston on Thursday evening. Purvis was recruited over 30 years ago to chase balloons after one landed at his farm. He recently earned his balloon pilot license and wanted to meet Rodrigue so he would have someone to follow during the launch. Rodrigue’s wife and business partner, Andrea, is at left.
