LEWISTON — Breezy, foggy and misty conditions have delayed the Saturday morning Great Falls Balloon Festival launch to 9 a.m. when festival officials will determine if weather conditions are safe to fly.

The delay comes after the cancellation of the Friday launch and closing of Simard Payne Park, where the festival is held.

Crew Coordinator Colleen Landry said wind and air conditions delayed the launch. “They are probably thinking about the wetness of the field because this field is pretty rain-socked,” she said.

Landry said this is rare for a launch to take place this late in the morning.
