DEL MAR, Calif. — Patricia Beliveau Thomas slipped peacefully into the arms of her savior on Saturday, July 29, in Del Mar, California.

Pat had a rare cancer which she courageously faced head on. She was treated at Moores Cancer Center, UCSD for several months and then due to complications, Pat and her family called in Elizabeth Hospice and she died at home surrounded by her family.

Patricia Claire Beliveau was born in 1940 in Lewiston to Dr. Bertrand and Rita Beliveau. Pat graduated from Lewiston High School and attended the College of New Rochelle in New York and received a master’s degree from Columbia University in 1964.

Patricia married First Lt. John Robert Thomas USMC in February 1964. They had three children, Julia Ann, Carter and Brian. They raised their family in the Wayzata and Lake Minnetonka areas of Minnesota.

Pat loved theater and was a regular at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. She developed a new passion for art at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where she was an accomplished docent for many years.

Pat and Jack retired in Breckenridge, Colo. where they developed new friendships and were avid skiers and hikers.

Over the years in Minneapolis, Breckenridge and Del Mar, Pat enjoyed cooking and became a beloved hostess. Wherever they lived, Pat and Jack became known for their philanthropy. Pat loved the adventure of travel and she and Jack made excursions to countries around the world.

Pat was organized and reliable, a wonderful traveling companion, gracious hostess and dedicated volunteer.

She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and a nurturing friend.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Jack Thomas; children, Julie Thomas Doody, Carter and Brian Thomas; daughters-in-law, Micki Thomas and Trista Borrego Thomas; son-in-law, Peter Doody; sister, Gilda Beliveau Dick; brother, John Beliveau; and five grandchildren.
