PARIS — Classes offered by Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education are announced for September. Classes are held at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School unless otherwise noted.

Welding for Fun: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays for seven weeks beginning Sept. 6 with Rudy Danforth. Tuition, $149. This Level 1 basic arc welding (stick) course is designed for the hobbyist. Students should bring safety glasses with sides, long-cuff leather welding gloves and safety shoes.

Career Exploration: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, with Denise Dumont. The team will guide in discovering careers and career path options. Tuition: Free.

Zentangle! Art & Meditation: 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays for 10 weeks beginning Sept. 14 with Justin Stygles. Participants will express themselves with meditative art. They should bring colored pencils, index cards and a card holder. Tuition: $39. 

Introduction to Professional Welding: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays for 20 weeks beginning Sept. 19 with David Frost. This hands-on, three-course program is for the student who is interested in employment as a welder, an in-demand/high wage occupation. Students will learn welding safety, learn and practice ARC welding, shop math and employability skills. Funding is available to eligible students. Tuition: $920. 

Elder Abuse Prevention: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, with Betty Balderston. This will provide an overview of elder abuse, including the red flags to watch for and resources available in Maine that provide services and assistance. Tuition: Free.

Essential Oils — An Introduction: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays for three weeks beginning Sept. 21 with Mary Crane,  for one of three sessions. Tuition, $20. This class will empower you and show you how to use essential oils to optimize your health and well-being for you and your family. Material fee of $5 paid to instructor.

Fiction-writing Workshop: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays for 15 weeks beginning Sept. 26 with Michelle Wheeler. A workshop for new and returning writers who wish to write a novel. This class will be held at Buckfield Junior/Senior High School. Tuition: $30. 

Observatory Training: 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays for four weeks beginning Sept. 26 with Rick Chase. Participants will learn how to use the telescope at the Twitchell Observatory in Paris to survey the night skies. They must be able to climb the ladder to the telescope. Adults who complete the course may be certified to use the observatory on their own. Classes canceled on Tuesday night will be rescheduled for the following Thursday night. First night class attendance is crucial. Tuition, $40.
