TOPSHAM — Maine’s Soil & Water Conservation Districts are offering a series of free presentations on invasive forest pests, those the state has and those it doesn’t have — yet.
Presentations are designed to help participants identify current and potential invasive forest pests and their host species, understand the threats to forests and woodlands posed by these pests, and learn how to report suspected pest sightings or damage to trees that may be a result of infestations.
Participants will receive an information folder with fact sheets about the major pest species and “look-alikes,” as well as a list of host trees on which the species may be found and other relevant information.
Programs have been reviewed and, depending on length, may be approved for recertification credits.
A workshop will be held from 5:50 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road.
The Maine Soil & Water Conservation Districts will have an invasive forest pest display on Monday, Sept. 18, at Farmington Fair Ag Day.
