LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is offering free support groups for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Guidance Through Grief brings together those who are coping with the emotions that come with the loss of someone special.
The groups will be offered in five locations this fall, and each group will meet once a week for eight weeks. The locations, start dates and times are:
Lewiston: From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the AHCH office, 15 Strawberry Ave.
Auburn: From 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road.
Bridgton: From 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St.
Each group will be led by a trained expert who helps participants better understand the grief process and share their feelings and experiences with others who are grieving. Activities are designed to help participants find their way to a place of hope and comfort.
While preregistration is required, there is no cost to participate.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
