ANDOVER — A woman who has held several positions for the town told selectmen Tuesday night that her poor health will not allow her to return to her jobs.

Transfer Station employee Twyla Dolloff attended the selectmen meeting Tuesday night with her son, Michael, who has been doing her jobs since she’s been on unpaid medical leave for about two weeks, Selectman Jane Rich said Wednesday.

Dolloff, a long-term employee for the town, also held custodial duties at the town library, Town Office and Town Hall.

“She has been a faithful town employee for a long time,” Rich said Wednesday.

Her son, an assistant at the town library, has taken over his mother’s jobs with the agreement of town officials and for the same rate of pay.

He told selectmen Tuesday that he is leaving Oct. 24 for basic training in the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, for six months, but he plans to return to Andover afterward and may continue with his library assistant position at that time.

Selectmen wished him well in his endeavors.

The Board of Selectmen plans to advertise for the transfer station and custodial positions by the end of September or the first of October, while a six-month temporary employee will be hired for the library assistant’s position, Rich said Wednesday.
