ANSWER: I scoured the maine.gov site and came up with a document titled “Maine Revenue Services, Sales Fuel & Special Tax Division, Instructional Bulletin No. 12, Retailers of Food Products.” I skimmed it and think it will answer your questions even though it doesn’t give an actual list but provides you with enough information so you can figure it out. You can find it at: http://www.maine.gov/revenue/salesuse/Bull1220160101v2.pdf. Requests for information on specific situations should be in writing, contain full information as to the transaction in question, and be directed to: Maine Revenue Services, Sales, Fuel & Special Tax Division, P.O. Box 1060, Augusta, ME 04332-1060. You can also contact them at 624-9693 to ask how you can get a printed copy of the bulletin.
