LEWISTON — Jean Paul “Paul” Gallant, 66, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, surrounded by his loving family at CMMC after a long ilness that took his life.

Paul was born in St. Ignace, Canada, in 1950 to Elie and Yvonne Gallant.

After graduating from Lewiston High School, he worked several years as a mechanic at Pontiac Center in Auburn. He then joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Millwrights Union where he sometimes traveled to other states working on turbines and in papermills. He was a very pasionate union member serving five years as Business Agent and continued with the union until his retirement.

Paul married Susan Martel on June 1, 1973, and they had three children: Corey, Joshua and Amy. He was a devoted grandfather to his four grandchildren, Colby and Tatum Gallant, Cailyn and Dax Ouellette, who brought him great joy.

He is survived by his wife; three children; four grandchildren; brother, Ben and his wife Pauline; sister, Rose (Dumont) and husband Ronald; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his twin brother, Jean Guy; and his mother and father.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone in the SSU Unit at CMMC for the wonderful care he received.

He will be sadly missed and we will continue recording “Swamp People” for him!!
