SABATTUS — The Oak Hill Adult & Community Education program is offering a free literacy opportunity in the community. StoryTime Adventure Hour targets children at the age 2 to 4 range not yet enrolled in the district preschool program.
During the hour, an adult education instructor provides family literacy techniques to use at home and in daily routines, reading a special themed story each month and reiterating comprehension with a hands-on activity for each child. Each child leaves with a copy of the book used during the hour.
The first StoryTime Adventure Hour was held at Sabattus Primary School on Sept. 11. There were 10 children and one or two of their parents. The next class will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Sabattus Primary School Library, 36 No Name Pond Road.
Classes will also be held from 8:30 to 9:300 a.m. Thursdays at the Libby Tozier School Library, 466 Academy Road. The next class will be held on Sept. 28.
Registration is required so staff can prepare accordingly. There is a minimum of four required to hold the class and a maximum of 10 for each class.
