DURHAM — Elwin J. Demchak, 66, of Durham, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, Saturday, Sept. 16, at his home in Durham.

He was born Oct. 10, 1950, the son of John and Alvis (Alexander) Demchak Sr. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1968. Elwin worked in the construction and building field most of his life. He enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood and walking with his beloved dog, Carrie Ann. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish of Lisbon. Elwin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his brother, John Demchak Jr. and his wife, Rhoda; his nieces, Amber Snell and husband Jon of Durham, Erin Gudino and husband Anthony of Stevenson Ranch, California, Grace Reali and husband JJ of Cumberland. Other survivors include his great-nephews and -nieces, Jonny Snell, Aiden Snell, Aisley Snell and Saigen Snell of Durham, Meyer Gudino of Stevenson Ranch, California; several cousins in Maine, New Hampshire and Alaska; his good friend Carol Plourde of Lisbon; plus many friends and neighbors.
