RANGELEY — The Rangeley Oktoberfest Weekend, Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, will include a Brat & Strudel Contest and Stein Hoisting competitions.

The Brat & Strudel Contest will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Rangeley Inn & Tavern. It is sponsored by the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

Each attendee will receive a free commemorative Rangeley Oktoberfest mug and tastings of all brat and strudel entries. Winners will earn bragging rights based on voting by the public and a panel of expert judges.

Brat and strudel entrants confirmed so far include Blue Orchid, Forks in the Air, Inner Eye, Just Desserts, Moose Alley, Rangeley IGA, Sarge’s Pub and The Shed.

Thursday, Sept. 28

Kids Harvest Party at Classic Provisions from 5 to 7 p.m.; for kids of all ages, fall crafts and candy apple-making.

Stein Hoisting semifinals at 6 p.m. at  Rangeley Inn & Tavern, 2443 Main St.; 7 p.m. at Twisted Willow, 2303 Main St.

Friday, Sept. 29

SoJo’s Scarecrow Ball, all weekend; stroll down High Street and cast a vote for a favorite scarecrow at Classic Provisions, 2485 Main St.

Stein Hoisting semifinals at 6 p.m. at Bald Mountain Camps, 125 Bald Mountain Road, Oquossoc; 7 p.m., 45th Parallel, 17 Rumford Road, Oquossoc; 8 p.m., Moose Alley, 2809 Main St.; and  9 p.m., Sarge’s, 2454 Main St.

Live music at 9 p.m. at Moose Alley.

Saturday, Sept. 30

Maine Forestry Museum’s 25th annual Apple Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St.

Horse and wagon rides from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alpine Shop, 2504 Main St.

Sam Adams Beer Chugging Contest and German Beer Hall Lunch from noon to 2 p.m. at Moose Alley.

Movie, “Hacksaw Ridge,” at 5 and 8 p.m. at RFA Lakeside Theater, 2493 Main St.

Stein Hoisting finals at 8 p.m. at Moose Alley.

Music at Four Seasons Cafe, 82 Carry Road, Oquossoc, and Sarge’s.

Sunday, Oct. 1

Katzenjammer Brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Four Seasons Cafe; Gingerbread House Restaurant, 55 Carry Road, Oquossoc; Inner Eye, 2487 Main St.

Oktoberfest Family Fitness at Rangeley Health & Wellness/Rangeley Fitness Center, Dallas Hill Road. There will be pumpkin carrying and apple tossing.
