Slot machines are running in Lewiston and as a matter of fact have been running for weeks without any let-up. It is said that all of the various kinds of slot machines that in the past have contributed their share toward making the town famous, are back on the job. In addition to the slot machines, it is understood that a few gambling places have been recently opened up where one can find any kind of a card game that suits his fancy and purse. There has been but little change in the rum situation for the past few weeks. There is said to be plenty of hard stuff of all grades available in bottles. Prices run high and for a fancy article of sealed goods $3 or $4 a quart is charged and paid without comment. “Uno” and other similar light beverages which come within the Maine law, are about the only thing in the beer line to be found in the city.

Turner residents objected to not being allowed to comment Thursday night until after the Site Review Board approved a portion of DeCoster Egg Farm’s application concerning henhouse extensions. Almost two hours of discussion were conducted that covered a variety of issues concerning both the application and board requests that were made to DeCoster. The firm had received a town building permit to replace buildings that burned in a fire. The town later revoked the permit when it learned that the plan included building extensions to the original henhouses. The town then took DeCoster to court to stop work on the buildings.
