LEWISTON — The power of forgiveness will be explored at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Lifetree Cafe, 1919 Lisbon Road.
The program, titled “Forgiving the Unforgivable: A Son Confronts His Mother’s Killer,” features a filmed interview with Louis Barrios, a man who publicly forgave the man who brutally murdered his mother.
“Forgiveness is something you practice the same way you practice tennis or guitar,” Barrios said. “The more you practice it, the better you get at it.”
During the program, participants will have the opportunity to tell about times they’ve forgiven others or have been forgiven themselves.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free.

BRYANT POND — A contradance, last dance of the summer season, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Franklin Grange, 32 Main St.
Music will be by the Better Late Than Never Band with Maggie Robinson returning to call.

Socrates Cafe to meet Monday, Oct. 2
TURNER — The Turner Public Library will host Irish music sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays during October.
Musicians of all ages are welcome to bring their instrument of choice, or to explore one of the library’s collection of lending instruments, including fiddle, concertina, bodhran and other hand drums and ukulele.
The session will be led by Anthony Shostak on uilleann pipes and banjo. Admission is free.
