Change is a popular topic for politicians running for office. It is vague. It has a nice jingle to it. It is easy to talk about. Lewiston is a city that has experienced a lot of change, both recently and historically. What Lewiston needs now is not change for the sake of change.
Mark Cayer is the only mayoral candidate with the experience to know that what Lewiston needs is continued momentum. It is not a catchy sound bite, but Cayer knows that Lewiston’s growing art community is an economic engine, and he is dedicated to supporting it.
There are great things happening in this city. Those things don’t need change — they need support. Let’s keep the momentum going.
Joseph Thompson, Lewiston

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
