RUMFORD — Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Veinot, 100, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Rumford Community Home. She resided in Rumford.

Born in Rumford on Aug. 25, 1917, she was a daughter of Frank L. and Mildrith (Proctor) Bean. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1935. Betty was a member of the Congregational Church, the Rumford Historical Society, Dixfield Senior Citizens Club and past member of the Christian Valley Literary Club. She had been a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader and has done volunteer work for the What-Not Shop and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. Betty enjoyed crocheting, camping and skiing.

She was married in East Andover on Sept. 4, 1938, to Lawson Veinot, who died in Rumford on Sept. 3, 1985.

Survivors include her son, Terrence Veinot and his wife, Cheryl “Sherry” of Derry, N.H.; two granddaughters, Kathryn Klein and husband, Eric Orton of North Carolina and Sarah Veinot Cogan and husband, Bill of San Diego, Calif.; two grandsons, Christopher Klein and wife, Allison of Fresno, Calif. and Kevin Veinot of Florida; five great-grandchildren, Caitlin Cogan, Allison Cogan, Britney Cogan, Courtney Fries and husband, Vincent and Griffin Martini.

She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Janith Klein; three sisters, Beverly Hall, Frances Richards and Mercedes Bean; and a brother, Harold Bean.
