LISBON — Miranda Torrey, a fourth-grader at Lisbon Community School and USA National Miss Downeast Maine Princess 2017, brought home the national title of USA National Role Model Princess 2017 from the national pageant.

Torrey, who won her state title at the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant in August of 2016, traveled to the Boca Resort & Beach Club, Boca Raton, Florida, in July, for the USA National Miss Scholarship Pageant.

Representing the state, Torrey competed beside over 200 outstanding young women from across the United States in an evening gown, interview and a runway fashion show in order to claim the honor of being crowned one of the national winners. In addition to the seven overall titles, the system offers various optional competitions such as Modeling Portfolio, Casual Wear and Role Model.

Torrey’s other awards include USA National Miss Community Involvement Winner 2017, USA National Miss Modeling Portfolio Runner Up 2017, a USA National Miss Finalist Award, a Gold Presidential Award for volunteering and a National Day of Service Award.

After returning home from nationals, Torrey began preparing for her first trip to New York where she walked at New York Fashion Week for De Lauraine Designs by Toni Lau and is excited to be one of the promotional models for De Lauraine Designs’ next book.

Originally Torrey was scheduled to walk for a second designer at NYFW, but the second show had to be postponed due to Hurricane Irma interfering with travel plans. Torrey will walk for that designer at another show in the future.
