TURNER — The Cherie Sargent Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament Fundraiser will tee off at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Turner Highlands, 10 Highland Ave.
Anyone interested in playing can enter for $50 a person, which includes greens fee, golf cart and lunch. The committee would like to have sponsorships for each hole on the golf course. Special prizes will be given to participants in the tournament. Donations are welcome.
Sign up individually or by teams by sending an email to [email protected] and send checks payable to Cherie Sargent Scholarship Fund, 519 Buck Lane, Turner, ME 04282. Deadline is Monday, Oct. 16. Sign-up and payment will also be accepted at Turner Highlands.
A car will be awarded for a hole-in-one at the tournament.
The scholarship is for Leavitt Area High School and Buckfield Junior-Senior High School seniors who are going on to college to major in business administration, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have participated in one high school sport. The scholarships will be awarded to 2018 graduates.
Cherie Sargent died after a three-year battle with colon cancer in 2015. She lived in Turner and three out of her four children are currently attending Turner schools. Sargent grew up in Buckfield and graduated from the Buckfield Junior-Senior High School in 1989. She graduated from University of Maine in business administration and also had a master’s degree in business administration.
