
Dick Bouchard of Poland carries two totes of Mutsu apples that he and his wife, Jeanne, picked at Stukas Farms on Ferry Road in Lewiston on Wednesday. Bouchard said they pick more than 400 pounds of apples each fall to eat and to make a couple of apple pies. “I have to have my apples, and Mutsus are the best,” Jeanne Bouchard said. Third generation orchard owner, Dick Stukas, said that “for as dry as it’s been, the apples have been very respectable this season.” Stukas’ grandparents bought the farm in 1935. “There are not many places that stay just family anymore,” Stukas said.
