I am a lifelong resident of Auburn. I believe Auburn has been making good progress in recent years. I simply do not see where consolidating with Lewiston will benefit the current residents of Auburn.
I am especially concerned about the future of Auburn’s school system. As I understand it, if there is a consolidation, there will be one school board making decisions about all schools on both sides of the river. Will students be bused from one side of the river to the other? Will Auburn’s smaller neighborhood schools be affected in any way?
I am voting “no,” against the merger-consolidation of Auburn and Lewiston.
