OTISFIELD — Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said town officials are looking for a new school board representative to succeed Dave McVety, who submitted his resignation at the Oct. 18 selectmen meeting.

During the meeting, McVety said he resigned because he is a substitute teacher with School Administrative District 17.

“Now that I’m substitute teaching, it would be a conflict of interest for me to remain on the school board,” he said.

“It was a very good experience,” McVety said. “I’m really grateful that I ran for the position.”

He suggested town officials advertise the vacancy on its website.

“Maybe it could reach someone younger with children who wants to fill the position,” McVety said.

Pastore said McVety’s seat will remain vacant until June 18, 2018.
