LEWISTON — The “New Lewiston” is a term being used by the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council to tout all the positive things in Lewiston. On Thursday, Nov. 9, LYAC will highlight the Lewiston of 2017 through a variety of activities at their public education, “What Do You Know About Lewiston? Trivia Night.”

Believing that Lewiston has greatly evolved throughout the years, the event will not just tell attendees that Lewiston is a wonderful place but engage them in activities that will enable them to learn and experience Lewiston. The event was born out of LYAC’s concern that some individuals, both locally and away, aren’t aware of or have misconceptions about the Lewiston of today.

The free and highly interactive evening will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Lewiston Council Chambers, 27 Pine St. At the event, LYAC hopes to inspire attendees to be cheerleaders for their own city.

LYAC Chair Emma Williams notes, “Many people are unaware of all the great things in Lewiston.” LYAC wants community members to be knowledgeable about the progress of their own city, and LYAC member Amino Aden wants people to “make memories in Lewiston.” LYAC member Hunter Steele, who is excited about all that Lewiston has to offer, adds, “When people look for places to enjoy, Lewiston is a great choice.”

The event will have activities entitled: “Time for Trivia,” “Categories,” “Hat Talk,” “Evening Out in Lewiston,” “Surprise Pick” and “Open Mic.” Prizes are being lined up for give-aways, to include gift certificates from Ben’s Burritos, The Public Theatre, Sea 40, Italian Bakery, Mother India, Baraka Store and EllieAnna Gift Shop. A surprise grand prize for some lucky attendee will be announced at the close of the evening.

A new eight-minute Lewiston video tour will also be shown, and free “New Lewiston … Proud of My City!” wristbands will be given away.
