The Sun Journal is to be commended for its “Maine Places and Poets” series. When daily newspapers include poems, we are reminded that behind every daily newspaper story there are often ideas and feelings that often remain unspoken.

Those poems help remedy such silences.

As W.C. Williams wrote: “It is difficult/to get news from poems/yet men die miserably every day/for lack/of what is found there.”

James McKenna, Hallowell
