LEWISTON — Legal Peaces on Lisbon Street celebrated Halloween by giving out free marijuana Tuesday night.

Yes, free. To anyone 21 years and older with a valid ID.

“It’s illegal to sell without a medical card, but not to just give out,” shop owner Vinny Gogan said.

The store was giving out free goody bags with a token and some candy from 4 to 9 p.m. Shop employees said they were doing it to get their name out there and give back to the community.

“That’s the kind of vibe here,” an employee said.

Employees, who did not give their names, said a lot of people had visited Tuesday for a goody bag. “Not a lot of people know where we’re located,” the employee said. “It’s a busy street.”

To attract more customers, the store had Blunt Man outside with a bowl of Halloween candy.

The store has been at 934 Lisbon St. for years, but only started selling medical marijuana in the past year and a half. They can provide medical marijuana cards at a lower cost, and have caregivers on site.

“We’re big believers in the movement,” an employee said.

The back area of the store is for caregiving only, but the front has shirts and paraphernalia which is locally provided.

“We get a lot of our pieces from Sensi Side in Farmington; they blow their own glass there,” an employee said.
