PORTLAND — The Maine Red Claws rallied all the way back from a deep deficit in the third quarter, but the visiting Canton Charge was able to hold on for a 120-118 overtime victory at the Portland Expo on Sunday.

Boston Celtics two-way player Kadeem Allen scored 24 points, to go along with 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Red Claws, who lost for the first time this season to fall to 3-1.

Trey Davis poured in a team-high 28 points off the bench for Maine, hitting half of his 10 made field goals from behind the 3-point line. Jon Holmes added 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Charge, which picked up its first win of the season to improve to 1-2, were led by three players with Celtics connections. John Holland — who played at Boston University and appeared in one game for the Celtics during the 2015-16 season — led all scorers with 43 points, including six 3-pointers.

Former Celtic Kendrick Perkins totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds, while former Celtics draft pick and Red Claws player Marcus Thornton added 13 points and a team-high seven assists for Canton.

The game was close through halftime, with Canton leading by three (32-29) after one quarter and two (62-60) after two. The Red Claws fell behind by 17 points early in the third quarter, but rallied back to score 22 of their 24 points in the period in the final four minutes to knot the game up 84-84 heading into the fourth.

Holland scored nine points in the final period of regulation, then hit sandwiched a pair of 3s around a layup by Allen in the final 23 seconds of the two-minute overtime period to round out the scoring for Canton.

The Red Claws return to action Thursday night when they host the Grand Rapids Drive.
