DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Center for Wisdom’s Women, a weekday drop-in center where women help women thrive, is hosting its annual Holiday Fair on Saturday, Dec. 2 (snow date Dec. 9), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 97 Blake St. between Pine and Ash streets. The center’s social enterprise, Herban Works, will have its herbal products for sale, including special gift sets for holiday giving.

Crafts made by women will be sold with the proceeds supporting the center and some of the women directly. There will also be several raffles for gift items, including a basket of specialty chocolates and a handmade quilt. Gently used scarves and jewelry, sunflower-themed items and baked goods will be available as well.

Donations of new items for the raffles as well as contributions of scarves, baked goods and items for the sunflower tables are needed. Please deliver by Friday, Dec. 1. Donations of shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and brushes, deodorant and feminine products to the center’s hygiene closet are also welcome on the day of the fair. For more information call 513-3922. Thank you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You are so helpful and we are so thankful. I have a clean, comfortable, contemporary living room chair to give someone who might want to sit down and enjoy a good book, a good nap and/or chat with a good friend. It’s yours for the asking. Give me a call at 998-2580. Bring a truck and a strong friend.

ANSWER: I love how you wrote this note, Sue! I can just picture this comfy chair in my mind’s eye. I’m sure you’ll get many offers of a new home for it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In regard to the column on Thursday, Oct. 19, about veterinarians who come to your home, here is some information: Michelle Maloney, DVM, has The Pets Mobile Vet, a complete hospital on wheels. Contact information is 408-0554, petsmobilevet@gmail.com. The website is www.petsmobilevet.com.

— Russell, Bowdoin

ANSWER: Why, thank you, kind sir! The Pets Mobile Vet serves the Windham, Scarborough, Auburn, Portland and Freeport areas. I’m sure having a vet come to your home is an answered prayer for many who find it so challenging to get their pets into a vehicle. This seems so much less stressful for everyone involved!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to inquire if anyone has the necessary equipment that they no longer use to tap about 25 to 30 maple trees. I am retired and would like to undertake the project this coming spring. Share in the bounty could be considered if purchase price is affordable and acceptable to the both of us.

If you are interested in seeing your equipment “come back to life,” please call or text 320-0713 to make me a “sweeter old man.”

— Charles, Livermore

ANSWER: Tapping trees and boiling sap is so satisfying! I do hope someone comes to your aid to add more sweetness into your life, Charles.
