RUMFORD — Jeffrey Paul Hanson died unexpectedly at his place of business on Friday, Nov. 10, in Rumford, at the age of 58.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Veronica Amero Hanson of Rumford; his siblings, Elaine Dickson and husband, Thomas of Rumford, Peter Hanson and wife, Marsha of Poway, Calif., Michael Hanson and wife, Rebecca of Gettysburg, Pa., Dennis Hanson and wife, Tricia of Nashua, N.H., Marlena Akhbari and husband, Hamid of Dayton, Ohio; his late brother’s widow, Donna Hanson of Dixfield; nieces, Laurie Hiscock and husband, Steve of Wilton, Erin Manwaring and husband, Christopher of Portland, Ore., Natalie Hanson of Arlington, Va., Linda Groves and husband, Marco of Texas, Leslie Thorndike and husband, Bruce of Avon, Heather Gray and husband, Casey of Dixfield, Tara Hanson of Medford, Mass., Elizabeth Hanson of Gettysburg, Pa., Rori Hanson of Boston, Mass., Danielle Hanson of Boston, Mass., Elyse Akhbari and husband, Stephen Murphy of Columbus, Ohio; nephews, Erik Dickson and wife, Cheryl of Dixfield, Troy Hanson and wife, Wendy of Hollis, Keith Hanson and wife, Corinne of La Mesa, Calif., Stephen Hanson of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Akhbari and wife, Gayden of Alexandria, Va.; and several grandnieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, H. Edmond Hanson and Julienne Hanson; and his eldest brother, James Hanson, all of Dixfield.

Jeffrey was born on Dec. 27, 1958, in Rumford, to H. Edmond Hanson and Julienne Hanson. He graduated from Rumford High School in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Veronica Amero, on June 19, 1999, in Mexico.

Immediately after high school graduation, Jeffrey established his business, Hanson’s Service Station, on the Rotary in Rumford, and has served many loyal clients there ever since. Jeffrey was a talented mechanic who could fix nearly anything with an engine. He was a great problem solver as many customers would attest. He was known to customers, friends and even strangers as a kind and generous person willing to help most anyone.
