The local equal suffrage league, at its meeting in Lewiston city building Tuesday, pledged its most loyal support both to the State association, and to the non-partisan policy of the National woman suffrage association, in its work for the immediate submission of a Federal amendment to the constitution granting suffrage to women. The league members at this meeting eagerly welcomed back Miss Lola Walker, whose work in the Maine campaign won her so many firm friends. Miss Walker comes to the State direct from the campaign in New York, and, with all that enthusiasm which those who have ever heard her speak will remember, brought a message from the workers in that state and the national association.

(Photo Caption) Nearing completion is the new DeLar Inc. plant at the Lewiston Industrial Park, and work has already started on the moving of equipment from the Willow Street building to the new plant. Full operations are expected to begin by Dec. 15, with about 15 persons employed and plans calling for an additional 15 in the future. The 12,000-square-foot structure was built by the Sheridan Corp. of Waterville at a cost of over $100,000. Lewiston Economic Development Director Louis C. Sarelas noted that this building is one of several which will be constructed in the industrial park next year.

Many of Maine’s homeless and needy will find warmth this winter in the form of blankets to be distributed throughout the state beginning Tuesday. As part of Project Blanket America, 15,500 blankets, donated by Church World Service, will be distributed from Good Shepherd Food Bank in Lewiston to various shelters, food pantries and other programs throughout the state, said Joann Pike, the food bank’s executive director. The shelters, food pantries and churches will keep some of the blankets for use in their shelters, she said. Other blankets will be given to people in need through the individual programs.
