Our next storm system will bring rain, strong winds and some snow to Maine on Thursday.

A solid 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected for southern and central Maine.

The storm will intensify during the course of the day Thursday through Thursday night.

Many inland towns may end as a period of wet snow Thursday night as colder air works back into the picture.

Rain and snow will end between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Rain will dominate for southern and central Maine. Rain may mix with some wet flakes to end Thursday night.

Portland has bounced back and forth between December and November for its first full inch of snow in the past 5 years.

Central Maine may experience a brief change to moderate to heavy snow Thursday night. Snow during the day should be mostly confined to western Maine and mountains.

Most of the area will receive 1 to 2 inches of rain.

Snow accumulations will be highest in the mountains.

Southeast winds will be gusty Thursday, but the strongest winds will occur on Friday.

Northwest winds will gust 30 to 40 mph.

There is the potential for some scattered power outages.

Heavy rain may lead to localized minor flooding and ponding on the roads, especially Thursday afternoon, but it is not expected to be widespread.

Another storm will arrive Saturday evening and extend into Sunday morning. That one is looking wet with some mountain snow/mix as well. Sunday looks windy in its wake.
