HARRISON — Christmas in Harrison arrives on Thursday, Nov. 30, with soup and desserts at 5 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Harrison, 77 Main St.

A Christmas Concert will follow at 6:30 p.m. and a Live Nativity at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Dec. 1, those attending the annual celebration will be entertained by Fred Garbo and his Inflatable Theater Co. at Ronald St. John Post, VFW, Waterford Road, Route 35. Cocoa and cookies set the stage for Santa to arrive at the VFW. The tree lighting will take place at 6:45 p.m.

The last day of the celebration, Saturday, Dec. 2, will start with a holiday breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Olde Mill Tavern, sponsored by the United Parish Congregational Church.

It will be followed by the annual parade at 9:30 a.m., craft fairs and a quilt show. There are eight open houses throughout the village, along with a scavenger hunt, ornament painting and other activities.

There will be hamburgers and hot dogs available at the Harrison Lions Club and Christmas trees will be on sale through the Harrison Lions.

Saturday evening finishes off the weekend with a dinner provided by the Harrison Food Bank at 6 p.m. at the VFW post. The dinner is by donation. It will be followed by a dance, with a $10 ticket charge, featuring the Milltown Roadshow.

Many of the events are free and some will have a donation jar. Harrison is planning the celebration as a gift to the “Friendly Village” residents. All information will be available in flyers throughout town.

The annual Christmas in Harrison celebration begins on Thursday, Nov. 30, and runs through Saturday, Dec. 2. Saturday’s parade steps off at Depot Street, then continues down Main Street and ends at the Congregational Church of Harrison.
