FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington women’s basketball team escaped a challenge from University of Maine at Presque Isle with a 57-51 victory Sunday afternoon.

Jenessa Talarico led the Beavers in scoring with 15 points on 4-of-10 from the floor and 5-for-5 at the free-throw line, to go with four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Sara Lamb finished with 14 points on 4-of-8 from the floor, with two 3s and four free throws.

Morgan Crocker added 10 points while Paige Carter notched 17 rebounds.

Rhylee Wright finished with a game-high 22 points for the Owls, on 8-of-23 from the floor, with four free throws and 11 rebounds.

Kendra Silvers added 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor.

CMCC 86, Vermont Tech 20

RANDOLPH, Vt. — Natalie Thurber poured in 20 points in just seven minutes of action in the first half, and finished with a game-high 23 points, to help lead visiting Central Maine Community College to an 86-20 victory over Vermont Technical College in Yankee Conference women’s basketball action Sunday.

Jordyn Reynolds notched a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs (13-1). Alex Bessey added 11 points and eight steals.

Mariah Rilling led the Knights (3-10) with eight points.
