LEWISTON — A toddler and his mother were treated for dog bites that occurred in their home, police said.

The woman had been watching the dog, a boxer, for a friend. Police received a call shortly before noon that the dog at 160 Webber Ave. had snapped and bitten the 2-year-old boy on the neck and his mother on the hand and wrist.

Mother and son were taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for treatment of the wounds that broke the skin, but were not life-threatening, police said.

The dog’s shots were current. No charges are expected.
