Event reminiscent of hustle-bustle
of  the Lisbon Street of yesteryear

LEWISTON —  Downtown Lisbon Street will be alive with holiday activity for last minute shoppers at the 3rd Annual Sparkle Sunday, Dec. 17.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Poise Yoga Studio and J. Dostie Jewelry, 20 venues will be open featuring artisan gifts, face painting and art activities for kids, gift certificates, beer, wine and food tastings, and all-around joie de vivre.

Blue SPARKLE flags will mark each venue.

Organizers want to bring a flash of the historic retail excitement that brought hundreds to Lisbon Street many years ago. The area is experiencing a renaissance boom in office, residential and restaurant development. But retail is a different story. The growth of online shopping has changed the face of many downtown and mall shopping centers.

This one-day pop-up retail experience aims to recreate the hustle and bustle of meeting your neighbors on the street while holiday shopping.

More than 50 artists and artisans will be presenting their work in shops along the street. Ayurvedic oils. Skin care products. Hand bags. Jewelry. Paintings. Photography. Pottery. Clothing. Note cards. Books. Stuffed animals. Yarn. Knit and hand sewn gifts. And lots of gift certificates from regular Lisbon Street merchants.

Marché, Fuel, Ben’s Burritos, Mother India, Forage Market and Baraka Market will be open with Sparkle Sunday food and drink specials.

Parking is free in the Oak Street and Canal Street garages.
