WINTHROP — Aaliyah WilsonFalcone poured in a game-high 18 points to help lead Winthrop to a 59-35 victory in an MVC Class C South girls’ basketball game Monday.

Jillian Schmelzer and Kena Souza added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Ramblers (3-1), who overcame an 11-9 first-quarter deficit thanks to an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter. Souza hit three 3-pointers and Schmelzer dropped in another one.

Alexa Varnum led the Cougars (0-4) with 12 points, and Sophia Jacques pitched in with 10, including five free throws. The Cougars made 13 free throws as a team.

Seacoast Christian 53, Buckfield 29

BUCKFIELD — Visiting Seacoast Christian pulled away by halftime to down host Buckfield 53-29 in high school girls’ basketball action.

Courtney Williams scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Guardians (4-1), who turned a five-point lead after one quarter into a 30-18 advantage after two. Cadence Robbins added 11.

Katy Henderson paced the Bucks (0-3) with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Seneca Jacobs chipped in with seven.

Rangeley 76, North Haven 17

RANGELEY — Brooke Egan had 17 points to pace the Lakers to a 76-17 victory over North Haven in girls’ basketball action.

Natasha Haley had a strong game for Rangeley (3-0), with 11 points and 11 rebounds while recording six steals.

North Haven (1-3) was led by Mercedes Sparhawk and Layla Sparhawk, who each had six points in the losing cause.

Oak Hill 53, Telstar 13

WALES — Desirae Dumais paced the Raiders with 12 points as Oak Hill came away with a 53-13 victory over Telstar in an MVC girls’ basketball contest.

Sara Moring had three 3-pointers for nine points as Oak Hill improves to 2-2 on the year.

Luci Rothwell led the Rebels (0-4) with eight points.

Boys’ Basketball

Rangeley 69, North Haven 37

RANGELEY — Kyle Larochelle dropped 20 points in Rangeley’s 69-37 victory over North Haven in boys’ basketball action.

Kenny Thompson chipped in with nine points for the Lakers (1-2).

Brandon Brown led North Haven (3-3) with 12 points.

Buckfield 48, Seacoast Christian 35

BUCKFIELD — Zack Grover helped Buckfield pull away in the fourth quarter as he had a game-high 15 points in a 48-35 victory over Seacoast Christian in boys’ basketball action.

Three of his four 3-pointers in the game came in the fourth, as the Bucks (2-1) had a 30-26 lead heading into the final period.

Tyler Gammon had nine points in the victory while Ethan Jackson had six points and 21 rebounds. Tobias Worthley also had six points in the win.

Jet Archer had a game-high 16 points for Seacoast Christian (2-3).
