BANGOR — Germaine A. Boucher, 90, of Bangor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 16, at West Gate Manor in Bangor. She was born in Lewiston on March 7, 1927, a daughter of Edmond and Anna (Smith) Jutras. She attended grammar school at Ss. Peter & Paul School in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1946. Germaine took classes at the University of Maine at Orono and adult education classes in Vero Beach, Fla.
Germaine married Jean Charles Boucher Jr. on July 4, 1949, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Lewiston. During her working years, she was employed at the office of Dr. Edmond Lebel, and later at the Union Building and Alumni Office at U.M.O. She lived in many areas: Lewiston, Orono, Bangor, Portland, Turner and Auburn. She also spent time in Albany, N.Y., and Vero Beach, Fla.
Germaine was program chairman of both the Veterans’ Wife Club and the Foyer Musical Group. She served for many years singing as a soloist for various organizations and as a member of church choirs. She sang many times on the radio station WCOU. She devoted her time to YMCA fundraisers in Lewiston and Vero Beach, Fla. She was a member of the first Girl Scout troop at Ss. Peter & Paul School. She also worked on the organization of the Centre Heritage Museum in Lewiston.
Germaine always enjoyed outdoor activities, such as bicycling, snow-skiing, swimming and long walks. She was an avid reader, played cards with family and enjoyed listening to classical music. Germaine enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sons and their families, Jean Charles (Chuck) and his wife, Lynn, of Carmel, Marc and his wife, Linda, of Hampden, and Greg and his wife, Hilary, of Franklin, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Celeste, Spencer, Garrett, Grace, Leah, Abby and Cathy and her husband, Marco; along with her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Enzo and Luca.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jean Charles; a granddaughter, Sarah; and her 12 siblings.
