RUMFORD — Peter R. “Pete” Elward, 65, of Penobscot Street in Rumford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 14, at Rumford Hospital surrounded by loving family.
He was born in Rumford on Sept. 21, 1952, a son of John B. and Helen C. (Chase) Elward.
Pete was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1971.
He was employed for many years with Bass Shoe and Pioneer Plastics, and most recently was employed as a carpet installer and a doorman at the Eagles.
Pete was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW Auxiliary.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Surviving are his sister, Beverly Glover and husband, Pete, of Dixfield; a niece, Samantha Noyes and husband, Chris, of Dixfield; a nephew, Shad Glover of Alexandria, Va.; a special cousin, Barbara McMillan of Rumford; and his lifelong friend, Rodney Canwell, of Mexico.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, John Elward.
