JAY — Freezing temperatures and snowfall created slick roads here Tuesday night and in other areas of Franklin County on Wednesday morning.

Traffic on Jay Hill on Route 4 had to be detoured and a portion of the road shut down because of ice.

At 7:39 p.m. Tuesday, a Ford Ranger pickup slid off the road and flipped onto its roof near the town transfer station at the bottom of Jay Hill, Sgt. Russell Adams said.

The truck was driven by Lewis Sabin, 64, of Wilton. Police said two people were taken to the hospital and a juvenile was driven home by Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier.

No other information was available Wednesday on the other passengers.

Also on Tuesday,  firefighter Ron Leclerc, 62, of Jay, was returning home at 9:45 p.m. after working accident scenes when his pickup slid and hit a parked car belonging to neighbor Aimee Leblanc, 41, on Knapp Street in Livermore Falls. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, Adams said.

At 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, a vehicle rolled on Salem Road in Salem Township. Trooper Garret Booth said the driver suffered minor injury to one hand.
