AUBURN — Lewiston Police Office Joseph Philippon will address the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Lunch Club on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Village Inn, 65 High St. He will discuss the opioid addiction epidemic at the session, which will run from noon to 1 p.m.

Philippon is a 2005 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta and possesses a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice. He was hired by the Lewiston Police Department in 2005.

Presently, Philippon is assigned to the department’s Community Resource Team as the Community Resource Officer, focusing on strengthening community partnerships, identifying areas to improve service and recruitment. He also oversees several enforcement and outreach programs for the department. Philippon is responsible for protection of the city in responding to incidents and investigations.

He represents the department in court cases and arrests, as warranted. Philippon attends community-sponsored events to improve police-community relations, is a member of the bicycle patrol and assists in the management of the Project Safe Neighborhood “Hot Spot” grant.
