FARMINGTON — Two Sumner residents face several charges after a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy stopped their vehicle Sunday night for illegally attached plates, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Deputy Derrick Doucette found the passenger, Nicole Waas, 32, had 10 outstanding warrants for unpaid fines. She was also faces charges of trafficking in prison contraband, violating bail conditions and failure to appear at court.
Doucette stopped the vehicle, driven by William Waas, 33, on the Town Farm Road in Farmington, about 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Waas was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, attaching false plates and displaying a fictitious inspection sticker.
William and Nicole Waas were taken to Franklin County Detention Center. The vehicle was towed.
Illegal drugs were found hidden inside Nicole Waas’ underwear during a search at the jail, Nichols said. She was charged with trafficking in prison contraband.
All prisoners are asked if possess contraband before they enter the jail. If they fail to tell the truth or if contraband is found during a search, they are charged with trafficking in prison contraband, according to Nichols.
