LEWISTON — Jerald W. “Jerry” Mason, 82, a lifelong resident of North Turner, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 6, 1935, in Turner, the son of Kenneth L. Mason and Mae (Libby) Mason. Jerry attended school at Leavitt Institute in Turner.
On Aug. 6, 1957, he married “the girl next door,” his longtime sweetheart, Ellen “Rosemarie” Morris. Through the years Jerry worked for Leavitt Orchards, L & L Well Drilling as well as working most of his life at the family sawmill, K.L. Mason & Sons, in North Turner. He enjoyed four-wheeling, cutting firewood and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Mason, of North Turner; his son, Scott Mason, and his companion, Jackie Clark; his daughter, Julie Brown, and her husband, Jim, all of Turner; five grandsons; and one great-granddaughter; sisters, Shirley Mahaney, Ann Morris and her husband, Millard, Jean Tucker and her husband, Phil, all of Turner, Judy Gallop and her husband, Richard, of Monmouth, Meredith Biggs of Turner, Margaret Blodgett of Jay, Marsha Laplante and husband, Raoul, of Livermore Falls, Joanne Keene and her husband, Roger, of Turner, and Gayla Judd and her husband, Ken, of Livermore; brothers, Robert Mason and his wife, Vicky, and Randy Mason and his wife, Julie, all of Turner. He was predeceased by his parents.
